Any weight loss and health gains tend to last about as long as a celebrity marriage, leaving you with yet another failure. Giving up dieting is the best thing I ever did; and the first step to quitting dieting is to learn how to spot a diet in disguise.

Breakfast: Easy like a Sunday morning eggs

These delicious baked eggs (based on the traditional shakshuka) are a family favourite, and a fantastic way to get another serve of vegies into your day. You don’t have to leave this dish for breakfasts only: I love it at dinner time too. Serve it straight from the skillet or frying pan for that extra ‘wow’ factor.

Main Meals: Pumpkin falafel

The falafel are super moist so you can eat them the next day. My favourite bit is that they are so ridiculously simple to make. I love having baked pumpkin in my fridge (it’s one of my favourite vegies) and once a week I’ll do the Life-saving baked rainbow vegies on page 200 as meal prep, then use some of the pumpkin for this recipe.

Salads, Vegies, Dips and Sauces: Freeken’ good freekeh salad

Freekeh is my favourite wholegrain. It used to be really hard to find, but it’s becoming more popular and is available from most large supermarkets and health-food shops.

Dessert: Salted peanut butter chocolate ‘brownies’

These no-bake brownies are seriously simple – and I’ve got a feeling you’re going to love them as much as I do. If I have a craving after dinner, I’ll sometimes whip up a batch of these.
